Our Ministry Teams provide an opportunity for our church partners to utilize their God-given gifts, talents, and time to enable the church to realize and reach its mission. Members serve on Ministry Teams for 3-year terms. Each team works alongside a staff member. Our teams are divided into three different categories:
- Specialized Ministry Teams - those ministry teams focused on targeting a specific aspect of ministry within the church.
- Operational Ministry Teams - those ministry teams that focus on assisting the staff in administrative matters of the church.
- Service Ministry Teams - those ministry teams that focus on providing a service that benefits the entire body.
Specialized Ministry Teams
Missions – Represents the church in the establishment and operation of new mission locations and local church missions. Makes recommendations to the church in the operations of missions groups.
Music – Assists the Minister of Music in processing matters that have to do with the church’s music ministry. Promotes a program of training and music appreciation among church members. Oversees use, maintenance, and safety of all electronic equipment.
Preschool & Children – Assists in developing and carrying out effective activities and programs for the spiritual growth of preschoolers and children. Encourages individuals to participate in ministries that will aid in the growth and development of preschoolers and children.
Sports and Recreation – Develops and carries out effective ministries to reach our community for Christ through recreation. Encourages individuals and families to participate in these ministries which will aid in the spiritual growth and development of their participants.
Special Ministries – Assists and supports the staff member in developing and carrying out an effective program and activities for the spiritual growth of those with special needs.
Weekday Early Education – Assists and supports the Weekday Preschool Director with the activities, programs, and policies of Wayside’s Weekday Preschool.
Youth – Assists in developing and carrying out effective programs and activities for the spiritual growth of the youth. Encourages individuals to participate in ministries that will aid the growth and development of the youth.
Operational Ministry Teams
Finance – Coordinates annual budget. Prepares and approves financial reports. Approves all procedures for controlling receipts, purchases and disbursements. Monitors actual expenditures to insure compliance with the budget.
Nominating – Serves as a “clearing house” to approve all lay officers and workers in all church organizations, Ministry Teams, and ministries. Recommends these nominees to the church for election, unless otherwise stated in the By-laws.
Personnel – Secures prospective staff personnel for recommendations to the church. Assures compensation at appropriate levels. Assures job descriptions are developed.
Policy – Maintains current Constitution, By-laws, Policies, and Operating Procedures. Processes all proposed amendments to these documents. Does an annual evaluation of church policy and recommends necessary revisions.
Stewardship – Promotes total stewardship of life throughout the church year. Orients new members with the church’s financial programs and enlists support. Recommends all special offerings and designated offerings.
Service Ministry Teams
Baptismal – Maintains inventory of baptismal supplies and assists the pastor and baptism candidates during the ordinance of baptism.
Bereavement – Helps minister to those inside and outside of the church that have lost loved ones. Works in conjunction with the Bible Fellowship Groups to provide assistance, ministry, and food.
Design & Decoration – Obtains flowers and provides decorations for church activities. Produces the design sets for special events.
Dining-Kitchen – Oversees the purchasing of supplies, as well as the use of the dining-kitchen facilities and equipment.
Family Services – Ministers to the physical and emotional needs of families of the church or community. Processes all requests for benevolence among members of the church, their relatives, or persons in the community.
Lord’s Supper – Prepares and maintains equipment and supplies used in the Lord’s Supper. Collects equipment following each service and assures cleanliness and readiness for the next use.
Facility Management – In cooperation with the church staff, is responsible for the use of all church buildings, properties, equipment, and vehicles, as well as the maintenance and repair of church property and equipment.
Safety Ministry – Provides watch care for each of our services and special events. There are openings during the Bible Fellowship hour, morning and evening worship, and Wednesday night activities.
Social – Arranges all church-wide social events (i.e. fellowships, receptions, anniversaries, etc.). Makes arrangements to prepare facilities, food serving, and restoring orderliness and cleanliness.
Ushers & Greeters – Serve at church services and special programs/services as needed. Offer information and guidance to guests. Provides a special outreach opportunity for men and women.
